All classes start at 8:30am and finish at 5pm.

Forging class. Limited to three students per class. We forge the blades to shape with hammer and heat, grind, heat treat and construct the handle. Cost is $1000. per student. The type of knife we can make is more varied in style but they are all plain high carbon so extra care is required to keep them looking at their best.

Damascus class. We forge weld and fold the steel to make a variety of patterns, forge the blade, heat treat and handle construction. It has been changed to two days as I have streamlined things by having all the equipment in the one location. A maximum of two students. Cost is $1200.

All students get a set of notes at the completion of the class which includes a list of suppliers. Sheaths can be made at a later date at a cost of $60 If the knife requires one.

All safety equipment is provided but if a student has a preference for their own safety glasses then by all means bring them. You don’t require anything more than some older clothes and shoes with enclosed toe. I will be supplying a BBQ lunch, if you have dietary requirements let me know in advance.

All classes will be conducted in my new workshop at 745 Shelford rd Mt. Mercer. Its 30km out of Ballarat just past the last wind towers on the left hand side if coming from Ballarat. My accommodation is pretty well ready but I have to get the shower built. The cost will be $50 per student. The facilities include a kitchen, BBQ, fridge, two bedrooms with two beds per room, Heater, flushing toilet, entertainment.

My workshop has been built to be disabled/wheelchair friendly. For those that do stay on the Friday night we will be able to get through some theory before we start on the Sat with the practical.
